Default MMR

For all you Southern Californians out there- Has anyone heard of Modular Motorsports Racing located in Camarillo Ca off the 101? They apparently are engine builders for 4.6, 5.4, and the new 5.0 engines... They specialize in drag racing engines but claim they build street engines too. I wonder if they would be reliable for daily driver engines?

There is a ton of info on the mustang forums about MMR, some good and some bad. For a daily truck engine I'm sure it'd be OK since you're not running crazy amounts of boost.

Has anyone used their services for their truck, rather than a mustang?

The thing is they are mostly fir mustangs. I know some people that love mmr and some that would not touch then with a 10ft pole. The lightning engines they do make are few and far between most people go with jlp or jdm. It's really hit or miss with mmr.

I've heard good things about MMR on the mustang forums. Theu can pretty much build whatever kind of engine you want. Its gonna be pricey if you just want an engine through them, I would suggest getting a remanufactured engine if you just want a fresh engine. They will come with a warranty just like MMRs do and not cost quite as much.

I might use MMR for some things I'm getting for my 4v 5.4 I'm building.

They became popular in the Lightning world with there short blocks they sold due to the prices they were selling for. Then some started having issues and they got a bad rep. I personally know a guy with a Mustang that had to pull his MMR long block out his car 3 times and send it back because of issues. Honestly that was a few years back I don't know I they have gotten better or not.

FRPP sells a short block at a good price. Look into them.

That's crazy... I have been looking into new engines, mine has a funky rattle/knock in it somewhere, I can't pin point just yet. The 4.6 engine only has 101,000 miles on it. It could very well be the timing chains... I was looking at the worst case scenario of having the need of engine rebuild. I looked on craigslist and ebay (ebay for ****s and giggles) but I didn't find anything that was a wow. That's when I saw the MMR auction listing for their engines and clicked the link to their website. They are in Southern California...

If anyone out there knows of reputable shops in the High Desert, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga area (basically San Bernardino County) please let me know...! Thanks!

I have their rods and have no complaints but there are better builders out there.

Any idea where I can find one of these better builders? I prefer locally to the 760 or 909 area codes.
