Missfire Again
Darn it. I'm going to take it out dry it fill it then tape a cup under there and she what happens. And if it still is misfiring and and the cup gets some fluid in it I will grab a new coil and figure out something to fix the leak. If it runs fine all I will have to do is fix the leak.
Well I took it off again and filled it with dielectric grease. It didn't change anything. There was no residue on the coil and it was not wet on the boot or anything. I felt up around on the things that could have leaked and there was no moisture or anything. There has got to be something shorting out and burning up the coil. Tired of changing it and thinking I have it fixed.
Does anyone know of anyone that has had this problem? I really hate my truck shaking. It needs to be fixed. Is it possible that something is grounding out every time I put a new coil in? I just don't understand why it lasts 2 days. Then the coil burns out.
It sounds like something is leaking down into your spark plug socket and causing it to misfire. It can be oil or anti freeze. See if you can feel any anti freeze around your heater hoses. Also see if you have oil leaking from your valve covers. clean out the spark plug socket real good. I would suggest using a wire brush like the one I use to clean my 12 gage (with the plug out of course). When you take out the plug, note if it is loose as the loose plug will cause the misfire. Dirt and oil is the biggest cause of loose plugs. Also, try a new plug wire.
There is no residue or anything around and I looked to see if anything remotely close was moist or oily. Nothing seemed to be. And I changed the plug after it started missfiring again and it was not loose. And I dont know if I would be able to change the actual wires because it uses the coil over plug system.
The "wire" is that rubber that goes over the plug attached to the COP. It can be replaced without replacing the COP. Could you take a pic of the bowl or whatever it is you referred to earlier that you wanted to know if it could leak? When you did your plugs did you remove the fuel rail?
Because its not like a truck with wires and caps over the plugs. It's a coil over plug that sits on it then there is a connector with 2 little wire that run to a different wire and to somewhere else
