Ford should have changed the name on LV so it does not say Mercon. Too many people are confusing this.

Hell, I almost bought it for the t-case once on impulse. Even read the back of the bottle...it took 5 steps towards check out before it comprehended lol.

First impression was that it was a new and improved Mercon substitute. Regardless, it went back on the rack and I ordered on line.

Yep.... and as well knowledged as you are, it even threw you off. The average Joe won't know the difference, or care to dig deeper.

Good thing you didn't put it in your t-case. Would have been curtains for the poor thing, lol.

How about using NAPA power steering fluid that does not have the friction additives in transmission fluid? The hydraulic power steering does not need the friction additives and will last longer without them.

Haha, I wasn't shopping for t-case fluid at the time, but that caught my eye walking by. Had to order the XL12 when it came time.

Ford discontinued Mercon, what,- back in 01/02 there abouts..Valvoline and others carried on the formulation until Motorcraft finally came up with XL12. For the T-case in these trucks, that's what you need. Curtains for sure, probably sooner than your average Merc V fail lol...that stuff eats the T-cases in these trucks.. further, taps the wallet before that one is all said and done lol.
