Default Mega Squirt on an 01 with the 4.2?

Searched the forum and couldn't find a thread on a 4.2 with megasquirt. Anyone know anything about it or have any experience with it on a 4.2? Looking to do it in the future one way or another once i build it, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

ummm... What is "megasquirt"? Is that like when you push the 4.2 v6 to its redline or something and blow it to pieces?

I wouldnt bother. as bank fire is not the optimum way to make power. If you really are interested in tuning Buy the SCT Pro racer package and you'll be able to tune it all you want.

I've looked at doing SCT livewire. But I'm stuck on whether or not I want to swap ecu's or just tune it myself with something like SCT, or AEM.

Megasquirt is a waste of time unless you plan on getting real serious with the build and with that anemic 4.2 I highly doubt you'll be doing that...

Don't waste your time on money on it, get a flasher and a custom tune and call it a day.

I actually will be doing that in the near future. That's why I am debating between running the stock ecu with something like livewire or building a megasquirt unit. The idea is to be different, not mainstream. Everyone builds v8's, no fun there. 4.2's are capable of making much more power than people are aware of
