Mega Fuse Holder
Have a 1997 F150 XLT 4.6L - Battery Mega Fuse went bad (175 amp) and the Holder just disintegrated when trying to remove fuse. Anyone know the part numbers for the Fuse and Holder? Thanks in advance! Al

Not sure if you can purchase just the fuse holder and fuse but here is the part number for the harness that goes from the fire wall down to the starter. It has the holder along with the battery terminals.
2L3Z-14300-AA. I replaced my harness in my 2001 f-150 5.4 in "09 when battery terminals were badly corroded. It's not bad of a job and it took me about 1.5 hours. I would check to see if this part also applies to your '97 first.

I went with Bussman holders and their MEGA fuses long ago and haven't had problem. Bussmans are the Heavy Duty among Holders and MEGA's. Holders are more robust (not the cheaper weak plastic) and use thick rubber covers. Their fuses are a heavy gauge, twice that of which you find locally at the same price. They are very hard to bend and can take the vibration suffered from Fords inadequate set up. Ford deleted the set up after 1998, the 99-03's were fuses correctly, - inline with floating holder, free from vibration and directly in front of the battery. Those last the life of the vehicle. Anyway, if your after a heavier set up, they have them.

They make better and more suitable holders today. I went with Bussman back then as I wanted 500 amp 1/0 holders, heavy enough to support tinned solid cast copper terminals for a project I never quite finished,. No one else was marketing good holders at the time. However and today, I noticed Blue Sea and Little fuse are now offering nice holders, they actually would work out better for you , not as bulky and easier to work in. They are 250 amp holders but that's just right for what you need. Like I mentioned, stick with the heavier gauge fuses. They won't bend and crack the solder ball in the middle causing intermittent harassment down the road.
I would go for these with a a set 175 Bussmans in your case. Easier install, better covers for this application, it's all you need AND since the holders sit fairly close together, less bulk is better. They also look like they have good dampening, not a hard plastic, rather a softer composite...perhaps a hard rubber. Not sure there. -
The Bussmans I mentioned before will work and work well. But much more difficult to place, space and secure. They are larger (500amp). The 250 amp holder is smaller where it counts, has the fastening tabs on the outer edge which will make the install MUCH easier.

This holder can be used here? How do they mount? Do i have to drill the bracket to create a hole to nut in it for these bussman holders?
I just noticed my truck has a broken plastic and the fuses are hold by a plastic tie, and they are really loose. They move a lot by hand. This is dangerous? Can it create electrical conflicts with the rest of the truck?
