Maintenence Time
As my truck approaches 100,000 miles and some free time is coming up i have decided to do some major tune ups to make sure it is as trouble free for the next 100,000 as it was for the first 100,000. I am going to list everything I am going to do and if I miss something please feel free to add it in the list. Also, if anyone has any tips please feel free to let me know.
Another thing, my radiator is leaking on the drivers side upper corner and it doesnt look like I will be able to fix it. Should i take it to a radiator shop or would it be better to just get a new one? If i need to replace where are some good places to look for radiators?
I am also curious as to where the best places are to buy the parts are, so if anyone has any suggestions please shoot them my way. BTW, I changed my oil and filter last week and also put a new air filter in about 2 months ago. Am i missing anything else?
*Lubricate Chassis
*Replace Fuel Filter
*Service Cooling System
*Change ATF Fluid and Tranny Filter
*Change Brake Fluid
*Check/Chance PCV Valve
*Replace Spark Plugs
*Change Transfer Case Lube
*Change Rear Axle Lube
*Clean MAF Sensor

Wow, i feel like i am writing a book here. Another thing, my manifold is making the dreaded ticking sound. My question is, what is the best way to get to it to change the busted stud out?
Thanks for all the help!!
Thanks for all the help!!
I am taking my truck to the Ford Dealer for the broken stud. I am a tech, I just trust a dealer that does this on a daily basis. When you change your PCV valve I would rec buying it from the dealer. Balance and rotate tires. That is all I can think off. A real fuel system treament.
I had 2 or 3 broken studs/bolts on my passenger side manifold & I was hating to tackle it but it turned out pretty easy surprizingly. Truck had around 180,000 miles or so on it at that time. I even reused the original gaskets inwhich were good.
Not sure if you have the convertor drain hole or not but my 2000 did.
Check your vaccum hoses good because them deteriate bad.
Id even change the artinator bushes inwhich is easy to do & cheap. I waited to long & the bushes ended up wareing into the bushing inwhich I ended buying a new one.
As for the radiator, it may be just the seal on the end of the plastic tank inwhich is fixable I beleive.

After finally getting some free time this weekend i looked into the bolt that is broken and found that the passenger side is the side that is leaking. The stud in the very back of the head is broken off. I will try to tackle it in a couple weeks. If anyone has any tips shoot them this way.
