What djfllmn is meaning by that, is that some pressure can be lost in the main bearings if they are worn. Sometimes going with thicker oil will restore that pressure because it can't bleed off as quickly.

Thanks. In between messages I got a mechanic to explain it to me.
THat makes sense. Up to now I've been chasing this prblem from the oil supply side, debris in the sump, new oil pump, etc.

But this engine has 150,000 or so on it and oil changes did not happen as often as they should have. so it might have issues on the demans side.

You think 5W30 would make a difference?

It very well could be a solution..... how long though? Who knows.

I've heard of some guys running 10W-30 in the 2V's and swear by it. (just poke around on BITOG)

I usually run 10W30 in the summer and 5W30 in the winter. 4.6 2V.
