Louder Truck cheap?
okay so here goes, I have a 2001 5.4 liter V8. I have all stock exhaust and motor. I wanted to get a whole new exhaust system but im currently broke so, i was lookin around up here one day and stumbled upon a reply to something. the reply was to cut the muffler out and clamp/jb weld a piece of straight pipe in. Is this legal and if so how would it hold up. Do you think it would sound good, would it be too nasty sounding?? By the way, I live in NC

Legal, No. Sounds Good, Hell Ya. A lot of people do it, as long as you aren't romping on it all day and doing dumb stuff to attract cops attention you should be fine.

As far as legal, I am certain that this varies by state to state, and once you get to the laws that your state has on it, you will likely find that from there, it varies from county to county.
Once you've got that sorted out, it probably varies a bit city-to-city.
And once you have got THAT sorted out, watch out for whiny neighbors, HOA's, etc., which can all waste enough of your time and patience as you try theirs, will make you not care if it is legal or not.
I would start first by taking a look at what my neighbors are like, consider what times I most frequently have my truck running in close proximity to my home, and then from there talk to a couple of local guys if you do not have a trustworthy auto technician.
I have a Thrush branded glasspack on my truck, it says that it's supposed to be super loud but I have yet to run into a federale that has a problem with it. I also leave for work at about 3:30 a.m., and have yet to come out to my truck keyed to hell and back because of angry neighbors.
