Default Losing horsepower

I have a 01 f150 with the 5.4v8 supercrew 4x4. I have a cold air intake system installed on it. I have been having problems with losing horsepower in the speeds of 40 or less. I just changed my Maf sensor and seems like no change. I haven't changed my spark UBS in last two years. But I wouldn't think that would be a problem. Oh yea seems like it only does this when it is hot outside. Also losing gas mileage. I plan on cleaning my egr valve this week to see if that helps.

When I bought my 03 Screw it was doing the same. After replacing all filters (air, fuel), some vacuum hoses, egr, MAF, fluids, idle control and a few other things all at once it was like another truck.

I had some crazy slack (2.25") in my gas pedal as well, zip tie mod made it like new again.

I would focus on intake leaks and clogging for now.

I have changed all those egr and iat and vacuum lines and another sensor. I just installed a Maf sensor. I did all those things like two years ago because I had stalling problem. It was all related to a stupid spark plug that went bad after I changed it. Probably same thing here is the stupid spark plug. Lol

Check your throttle body and see if it is clogged up behind the butterfly. They get really gummy and don't let in the correct amount of air. Make sure the holes are cleaned thoroughly and check the hoses to the t/b. You may have to remove it to really clean it right, but you will be happy with the results if its dirty. Good luck.

Ya that's fine. Or brake clean. Or TB cleaner.

Just seen on a thread on this site that seafoam sells a spray that foams up inside the intakes and cleans everything. Might try some of that

Did look at my intake and it looks pretty filthy. I didn't clean it with a brush yet. But I did buy a can of that seafoam stuff. It is like $15 a can. I sprayed half a can first time and followed directions. Blew all kinds of crap out the tail pipes. Ran it through again. Now I am just waiting for a hot day to see if it works. Also I have to buy a hose clamp. Found a clamp missing off my rubber hose to my air intake that goes to some thing along the firewall.

When it comes to spraying around sensors, never spray Brakleen (red can). It has chlorine in it and it messes up the sensors something fierce. It's residue can cause other sensors to read wrong or throw a code that isn't really faulty. Ford has a TSB somewhere for all their vehicles telling mechanics not to use it.
