I thought the same thing. I don't know if the housings are really that different, or if it's more noticeable because of the clear lenses. I wasn't going to swap them around to try and find out, since I pulled the adjusters, but I do still have the '99 lights. Eh, maybe I'll yank one and take a look at some point.

Take a picture. It's probably the normal gap. Just looks big for some reason.

My original lights only have a small gap. These new ones have about 3/4"

I'm going through this thread now, as I've just ordered a min h1 projector kit and a spare set of harley lights for my harley truck.

While I'm in there, I think it would be neat to make the amber strip on the bottom of the harley lights light up amber. Has anyone done this before, and have pictures of how it was done? I'm only up to about page 20 :-/

And I'm reading mentions of how to stop the headlight flash when locking with the key fob, can anyone expand on that?

Thanks!

edit: not sure if or why the attachment is upside down, I tried flipping it and reuploading 4 times, I give up.

Here's your rightside-up image.

I've never seen anyone light the amber sections, but think that using clear epoxy to adhere an LED strip behind them might work.

As for disabling the headlight flash, HERE is an older thread with a how-to. Unfortunately, there are no pics. (PhotoPhukit strikes again.) The write-up details how to change from flashing headlights to flashing parking lights, but it looks like cutting a gray wire on the keyless-entry module will disable *any* flashes. READ THE WHOLE THREAD. RELAY REMOVAL OR WIRE-CUT MAY DISABLE AUTO-LAMPS.

EDIT: Nice truck, by the way. (And great color!)

EDIT 2: Google "Photobucket Hotlink Fix" add-in for Chrome, and voila! PhotoBucket pics reappear.

having a helluva time getting the lens off one of the ebay harley headlights

tips appreciated. I've tried 275* for 7 minutes, 240* for 20 minutes...all I've done so far is seen a little bit of movement and then cracked a portion of the headlight back at one of the corners.

I'm trying to get started with a flathead, and have a trim panel remover tool to jam in there if I ever get it to move enough but can't seem to get it to fit.

alright got it, found a thread on another retrofit site that referenced using 350* for 5 minutes, I had to do that twice to get it all off. The glue is not the least bit stringy at all, I had to cut a lot of it with my knife. Must be something similar to permaseal that I see talked about on other sites.

Love the projector swap, so much easier to drive at night especially in my foggy little sleepy beach town outside SF.
