Default Lift Kits

What is the difference between a body and suspension lift? Which is better and which one is cheaper?

Body uses blocks to raise the cab and bed only. Very little ride quality loss, inexpensive. Gaps to cover, loss of rear bumper weight bearing.
Suspension replaces most of the current suspension components. Better for off-roading, tends to be more aesthetically pleasing. Expensive, stiffer ride.

As far as which is better, it depends on the application. I you want it strictly for looks only, go with a good body lift. If you're going to be off-roading, go with suspension lift.

Body lifts are dramatically cheaper than suspension lifts.
Body is a few hundred bucks, suspension will be about $1200 ish. That's not including cost of tires/wheels.

In a nutshell, of course.

well, first off its self explanatory on what is what, ([body just lifts body, suspension changes all suspension) and they're both good, just depends on several things (money, time, and what you'll use it for) i'm currently running a 3" body lift and love it, but still wanna go higher like 2-4" p.s. body lifts are WAY cheaper

^This.

There are a lot of folks on here that will call others stupid for even considering a body lift. Don't let that discourage you. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with a body lift IF it's for looks only.

if its for looks a suspension lift will look 10000x better IMO. DNW excess frame showing and having to invest even more money to hide the gaps via nerf bars bc those look like chit too

you're limited to a 4" suspension kit. The only 2" kit will be leveling keys. You want something with drop bracketry

Another plus to body lifts that commonly missed is the added room under the hood which especially with these trucks is very nice and no added wear on your front end my truck has both a 3" body and 4" suspension and so far I've had to replace upper and lower ball joints and wheel bearings (they weren't bad but the wheel studs weren't staying tight) now Idk if it's from the lift or other reasons but I know for a fact it's not because of the body lift

A correctly designed Suspension lift has all the same geometry as factory and will not wear front end components as fast. I have driven and worked on many 10th generation F150's with quality lift kits and have seen them tear up parts any quicker.. Now a cheaply designed kit screws up the entire front nd geometry and will kill parts.

I wasn't blaming my lift maybe it was that maybe not it probly had the factory ball joints with 130k and who knows how hard the po was on it so that could explain that and the wheel studs could be from the lugs not being torqued right but I'll never know cause I bought it lifted
