could hear it over knobby 35s and exhaust. Got so bad you could hear the metal on metal contact and would squeak at low speeds.

I took a block of wood and a hammer to it for a good five minutes for it to give to come out. After replacing the seal and bearing, while attempting to put the axle back in it would not go in. No amount of trying to put it in would work. I ordered a new axle at whole sale price(aftermarket axle) and it was $65 dollars in my hand. There is a gasket/rubber thing at the end of the half shaft. I broke it while trying to swap it. If that happens, no big deal. Putting in the new studs for the axle was a pain in the royal ***. You're probably going to want help putting the new studs in.
Do you remember where you got your axle shaft?? The last ones I bought came with studs, lug nuts, seal and bearing and were about $120 each.

I got my right rear from rockauto. Pleased with it. $90 IIRC. No studs. I picked up studs from autozone. They installed easily with an impact gun and some washers under the lug nut to pull the studs home.

I got the axle shaft from an wholesaler because at the time my father owned a body shop. You can't go wrong with Rockauto, like twoskinsoneman suggested though.
