Left rear axle shaft stuck! Need advice please
Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove a rear axle shaft that is stuck?? My left rear wheel seal was shot so I'm replacing both while I've got it apart. The right side came out with no problems, the left side is a different story. It was a PITA to get the c clip out, the shaft didn't want to go in far enough so I had to pry on it a little. Finally got it out and now I can't remove the shaft from the housing. Tried prying on it and nothings. Feels like its hanging up on something but the c clips and all are removed. Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Need suggestions ASAP please, truck is torn apart in the shop at work so I'm in a time crunch. Thank you in advance for any help. 99 Ford F150 5.4 XLT SPORT 4x4 3.55 open diff.

I don't have one and its 5:45am so no parts houses are open yet. That's what I was going to do when they opened if I couldn't figure anything out beforehand. Thank you for your suggestion though.

More than likely you'll need more than a seal for the drivers side. If the axle doesnt just slide out, the bearing has worn a groove into the axle shaft itself. You'll need a axle, bearing, and seal.

I've had this issue with my truck before. The poster above is correct. You'll need a new axle half, bearing, and seal. I had this issue a few months ago. I took a block of wood and a hammer to it for a good five minutes for it to give to come out. After replacing the seal and bearing, while attempting to put the axle back in it would not go in. No amount of trying to put it in would work. I ordered a new axle at whole sale price(aftermarket axle) and it was $65 dollars in my hand. There is a gasket/rubber thing at the end of the half shaft. I broke it while trying to swap it. If that happens, no big deal. Putting in the new studs for the axle was a pain in the royal ***. You're probably going to want help putting the new studs in.

That's what I was afraid of. I replaced the axle shaft not too long ago too so that makes it worse. There is significant slop in the wheel end so I'd say there is shaft and bearing damage.
