LED Headlamp Bulbs
I know this has been asked before but i cant seem to find anything recently...
To anyone who has L.E.D Bulbs as headlights what brand do you recommend?
i'm going from HID to LED. HID's have been nothing but problems for me (Maybe just bad luck)
Also do LED's have a ballast like HID or are they just plug and play. Haven't done any research because i'm slack and figured people who have the same truck as me could answer these questions better lol
Thank you

Looking for a Henway.

LED bulbs suck in these housings. They actually suck in any open housing.
What HID's do you have? Just plug and play bulbs or actual HID retrofits?
PnP HID's suck as well.
Easiest option to get the best light is get Lighting/Harley Davidson clear housing and a quality halogen bulb.
Only other real option is a HID projector retrofit.
Anything else will just give poor light output and blind other drivers.

I would really like some custom retrofits paint matched and some LED rings around the projector.
As for now, after i got my truck painted they broke a bulb and i have been riding around with stockers and cant see crap. The HIDs i had were just a kit off hidnation. i dont drive the truck much but i do like the white, clean lights, without having to run a wire harness for brights. Will eventually find someone or try myself to build a set of customs but for now just seeing what everyone else ran.

I picked up some cheap lightning housings and a set of 8500 lumen fanless LEDs on amazon. They make a huge difference over the stock housings with good halogen bulbs. I think it was $50 for the housings and $40 for the LEDs. I like the bulbs enough that I'm probably going to get a set for my other car.

LED bulbs and HID retrofit "bulb" kits -- Neither of them will work properly as blupupher stated above.
Former: They may look brighter, but the pattern is terrible.
For more than you probably want to know on the subject, read this Daniel Stern Lighting article.
My experience:
Amazon had a Black Friday deal on the LED bulbs linked below, so I thought I'd give them a try. First, because I've never experimented with them, and second because if they worked, then giddy-up! (And third, I could send them back if they sucked.)
Well, the good news is they are indeed much brighter, and looked *really* good in the L headlights. I also wouldn't blind anyone. The bad news is the pattern is terrible. I installed the LED bulb in the right headlight, and left the halogen in the other for direct comparison. The pic below is the tightest pattern I could get, and with the vertical dispersion, foreground lighting was off the charts, diminishing distance visibility. I also couldn't raise them up, because then the high-beams would only be useful for signalling aircraft (and then I *would* be blinding oncoming traffic with the lows). As they set, the LED high-beam matched the halogen pattern and location almost perfectly. (No pics of the high beams.)
Trying to adjust the pattern by rotating the bub in the housing:
It's too bad, because if they had aimed up with a horizontal pattern instead of vertical, they could probably have worked.

Whatever you do, please don't put HIDs or LEDs in the stock housing. The regular halogen housing reflectors scatter the light, and HIDs need a projector housing, to focus the beam. Otherwise, you're blinding all traffic and not making friends.
BrowningScrew has good threads about how to do DIY HID Retrofit.

Thanks everyone,
i have went through a few sets of housings just trying new looks and what not and you guys are right the beam sucks running HIDs lol. cant ever adjust them right where they need to be. I might suck it up and try and build a set of retrofit projectors.
Again, thank you all for the inputs
