Thoughts on switching to 1992-1996 F150?
I have been pondering a switch back to the older style f150 lately. I owned two 92-96 bodystyle reg cabs and two 00-03 style ext cabs. Lately I have been looking at purchasing a low mileage, supposedly rust free 92-96 style ext.cab and selling my 03. I figure I could fetch close to $6000 or $700 for my current truck, and pick up an older style for around $4000 to $5000. With the extra cash I would do a front end rebuild, lift kit, and 33 or 35 inch tires.
I was just wondering if anybody has recently made such a switch and had any comments. I know the older style ext cabs are smaller and don't have the extra doors but I only have more than 2 passengers maybe a couple times a month.

Seems like a stupid move, IMO.
Most people upgrade not downgrade.
I'd opt for something newer and more reliable as opposed to buying something 20 years old.

Impractical
I was actually looking for the earlier bodystyle before I stumbled on mine.
More of a truck-y look, IMO.
The heater core's way easier to change, too. (my dad had an early '90s F150)

Yes, you can fit 33's!
I'd love to have a '88-'93 single cab swb 4 wheel drive. There's a few in my area that are in awesome shape with lower mileage. But NO way in hell id get rid of my 2000 for one. Now if you found one restored, I'd go for it. But just to have some extra cash to do lift and tires, no way. Start saving and do that to yours.

The thought stems to the fact that I'm not really sure it's worth it to throw a lift, rims, and 35's on ny truck that already has some rust bubbles forming and 160,000+ miles. There are a couple clean older style ext cabs with low miles around and I was wondering what I would really miss from these newer trucks. My power pedals, leather, and power rear window are nice but they're definitely not necessary
