I have the LEDs in the first link, i have SD taillights so they are probably a little brighter than they will be for you but its pretty much bright enough to read at text book sitting 5 feet away in the middle of the night if that gives you an idea. I have tinted windows and i can see perfectly with them, i haven't tried the other 2 but you cant go wrong with option #1 speaking from personal experience..

Had some similar to the 1st and they were garbage not even as bight as stock, they looked cool in reverse but wernt practical. Got some with the magnifyer lens like the 3rd ones and they did much better with 15% tint however I added another layer of 5% tint over since and at night they wont help you any. I got 2 cree led cubes and mounted them on my hitch receiver and I still can barely see if its pitch black.

Were they a name brand or an ebay/amazon bulb?

Good thing you asked, i bought bulbs similiar to first one and they looked cool and all but were useless in terms of light output...

Get high power CREE "Projector" bulbs, those are sweet, 20W will be just fine, it'll cost you roughly 20-40$ for decent bulbs

Well youre the only one who actually got THOSE, the others said "similar". So quality might be poor if they got ebay ones
