Default Leather console lid

So got leather from the seat shop , and covered my console lid. Vinyl had started cracking where arm rested.

Leather works around curves easier than expected. Really stretchy. Easy to do. Light duty staple gun and thin 1/4" light duty staples.(this is how original is done)

Color little darker than parchment, more like dark parchment. Since have both and various shades in different interior items, it matches well.

I just put it over the exist so it would be padded .leather is about .1/16" thk. When i find some very thin pad, i wil redo it without old underneath. Or maybe not, pretty good as is. Cushier than before. Vinyl would probably been a bit thiner.

Nice job, mbb! When I re-covered mine (with the last scrap of matching vinyl the upholstery shop had), I, too went right over the old stuff to keep some cushion. In retrospect, I wish I'd laid a piece of Gorilla tape over the worn/cracked spot so it wasn't weak underneath.

Little better pic show grain
i was concerned the leather would be less stretchy and come out poor compared to vinyl, but it was ez.

If anything, it was probably *easier* to work with than vinyl.

Looks great, MBB. I wish I could do something to fix my cup holder surround in mine. It's that rubber crap that starts turning inside out over time (I have a bench seat).

Great job on console lid. Does anyone know if someone make real leather seat material ready made. You know like remove the Pleather and install real leather.
