Krylon Fusion paint
 

Picked up a couple of cans of Krylon Fusion satin black paint at the local Wally World today. After installing my bug shield and window shades, I decided to do a little painting.
Couldn't stand the faded gray grill, gray bumper, and huge red tail lights.

The paint gets an A+ from me for ease of use. No primer, just a scuff with scotch brite. A little on the thin side, be careful of runs, lots of thin coats.
Tried to find a bad review of it, but couldn't. Only time will tell how durable it will be.

Starting to look like "my" truck, and not the other 2 million on the road. One small step at a time.
Lots more gray trim to paint satin black,and I think the headlights are the next thing to go.

Looks good man. Fusion is an awesome product but expect the grille to start fading... or maybe it's just mine because mine was that platinum silver color they offered only in 99', but I painted it with Fusion to gloss black and within a year it's wearing off and fading pretty bad. I painted the bed caps on my 97' in Fusion Black and they never faded.

I had never seen it until now. I did spray it with clear coat also. I figured a little extra protection wouldn't hurt. Time will tell.

I've got a list a mile long to get done before winter and painting the trim is one of em.

What brand clear did you use, krylon? Was it satin also?

I am gonna have to say you are going to like the longevity of this product. I applied this to my faded plastics, and its still shines bright 30k miles in. And Texas weather tends to eat plastics/paints up so I would have to say its wearing very well.

how did u take out the tail lights

Not sure what clear I used. Might have been Krylon also. Had to be careful not to over do the clear. It seemed to want to cloud up if too thick.

To remove the rear lights, drop the tailgate, and there are 2 bolt/screws on each side. I believe 8mm heads. There are 2 holes where they are located. May need to peek in with a flashlight to see them. Be careful not to drop them pulling them out.

I was amazed at the amount of crud piled up behind the lights. Mud, stones, and who knows what else. Found out why mud ran down my truck every time it got wet.
