Key fob
I have a 99 5.4 xl. When I bout the truck in 2010 I was told at one time that I did at one time have a key fob. So recently I thought about it and decided to buy one. I ordered on of line. It came in and had no instructions on how to program it. Does anyone know how to do it? I know I can go to the dealer but I'm trying to avoid that if possible.
Super easy. close the doors, and cycle the key 8 times with it end in the ON position. locks should cycle. after that, hit any button on the FOB and the locks should cycle again. Turn the key off, one more lock cycle, and you're done!
F.Y.I. If you add remotes later on after programming this one, all remotes that you want active must be programmed during this process.

Yep. make sure it ends in the ON position though. This is a video on how a guy did it on an 06 ranger. Ford used this same process of several years; it even works on my mom's 2011 escape.
I love it! when i bought another one key fob it came with the instructions bought it for 10 bucks in blue:P Ford Blue! but i love how easy it is compared to the chevys i work on at work, you have to hook up a tech 2(GM's own OBD2 scanner) go through a bunch of stuff... yeah Ford ROCKS!

Ok. It worked. The only thing now is. My door lock motor I guess? Is extremely weak and instead of locking the doors the actual locks only slightly move. Instead of coming up or down all the way. It did the same thing when pressing the buttons before I got the fob. Any idea what's up with that?
Unfortunately, no. It was a PATS exclusive thing for the 10th gens. A trip to the dealer is in order.
Actuators. Super common problem with these trucks.
