Mine runs a standard intake setup with a K and N filter. I've been very happy with it. I'd estimate 5 HP and 1 MPG increases. It's not much, but I do like not having to mess with it very often.
Dunno if that'll help you decide on the intake kit. I'd say go for it, though.

I'm runnin a 77 series K&N on my 5.4 and you can feel the boost in HP and torque, and the mileage benefitted from it as well, I'm getting well over 18 highway. I would most deffinately recomend one. You do have to maintain it but it's cheaper than having to replace it. If you want specific numbers go to their website, it has the dyno results

Ive had a k&n intake in my 98 4.6 v8 for almost a year and i can say every vehicle i own from now on will have an air intake in it, im not sure on the gas mileage but i get about 18 more HP with it and it makes your engine sound pretty mean

^ 18 hp is really drinking the marketing kool aid. An intake may gain a few horses, but you give up filtration efficiency. The Gotts mod and a dry filter give basically the same results with better filtration.
