just wandering what the most weight you guys have towed

Im planning to haul a 79 bronco from texas to new york in november with a combined towing weight of close to 9000lbs on my non towing package 4.6. would anyone advise against that? I was nervous the first time i did it and that was hauling a lighter truck.

I dont really tow much, but the most I have towed with my 99 5.4 sc was 6500lbs. But that was because my dads buddy thought he could pull it with his Durango, which roasted his tranny. (I guess its a dodge thing!!! lol) I had to rescue the trailer first, and come back for the dodge, although it looked good parked along the road... smoking........lol

I'm really not sure what your setup is rated for.
No towing package probably means no trans cooler.
You will need a trailer brake controller or risk a horrid death.
You need to check the towing capacity of your truck to make a better informed decision.
Be sure to have the right equipment, its a long drive.
4.6 seems a bit light for 9k lbs, but I only speak 5.4.
(all I've ever had)

yep, i got a 10,000 lb hitch the trailer weighs a little over 2k and im figuring the bronco has gotta weigh around 5 or so, so maybe my math was off. But how do i go about looking for a tranny cooler to see if i have one?

Just purchased a used 26 foot camper trailer, the label on side of trailer says 6000 lbs dry weight.
have been towing that trailer with my 1998 f-150 (tow package, no trailer brakes yet) for about two months now on weekends. after each trip i check the condition of the trans fluid for color and smell and it seems to be holding up good.
i need trailer brakes..... yes i know this.
