Just bought my first truck, first mods?
Just bought my first truck, a 1999 f150 lariat 4X4 with 198,000k. Runs absolutely fantastic and previous owner took flawless care of it. bought it for $2500 so im satisfied. What were some of y'alls first mods you did to your truck? Thinking about a westin bull bar and a set of lights to mount on it, anything else? Ill Upload some pictures tonight for y'all. Thanks in advance!

My first modification is always the stereo. I am particular to my sounds.

If it was mine with those miles and I wanted it to remain reliable...
Fluid changes
Spark plugs
Filter
Other typical maintenance.
Bull bars are cheap and offer nothing but looks, but if thats what you are going for, go for it.

I'd agree. I just got a new to me truck and had to spend $250 in the first 48 hours to get something repaired. I also took note of a few plastic pieces that need replaced; $60. I needed floormats, which may not be your case, but all those things add up. I put a couple of bigger purchases on hold and instead am adding a backup camera, ez down tailgate (figured might as well while I have the tailgate cover off) and new speakers; $210 for all. I also realized I really need more console space and am picking up a used jump seat with cup holders being that mine only has the lower set.

One of the first things I did when I got my 2nd 10th gen was go to the FAQ thread on the 10th gen tab on this forum and that gives you free/cheap mods that I have done almost all of and had no problems. Welcome to the forum.

I wouldn't beat him up over the miles, my truck has 203,000 hard miles, and it still going strong except having a annoying piston slap, I've always been a stereo man so that's where I started, then exhaust, tires, etc
