It could if the battery isn't charging and the alternator can't power everything in the truck.

truck should not shut off just because of a bad battery connection. a vehicle does not need the battery to run. the only purpose of the battery is to start the vehicle and to keep the accessories running.

the alternator/voltage regulator would be bad.

the accessories are not connected to the generator (alternator). everything runs off the battery and the alt charges it.

Yes but if he is running accessories or his alternator is failing and too weak to handle the needed accessories, it will fail and the truck will shut off.

rip that alternator out and get it checked! only a few bolts.

op, do you have a DVOM? you can test your charging system with it.

How old is the battery? My kid's Focus was doing that same thing. If you jiggled the battery cable, it would start right up. He didn't have any corrosion either. Replaced the battery, and the problem went away. Tested it and found out that it had a loose positive battery post, and it would twist a little in the case and momentarily short out. Then it would lose it's internal connectivity. Moving teh cable would twist the post back into contact, and it would start right up. We were able to confirm the problem with a DVOM.
