Default Interior trim painting question.

Basically every clip that holds on my radio trim bezel piece has broke off. It's the only bad part of my interior and rattles like a **** while I'm driving down the road. I'm looking at getting a "new" bezel or at least one that has the clips to hold it in place. Every one I've looked at so far, just looks like ****, for lack of better words. So the plan is to get one and just paint it black. Just curious what grit sand paper you guys have used or to use? Also is there some sort of special interior paint I should get or is good old krylon fine? Should I use primer and clear coat? Just curious what you guys have done. Thanks for any help.

SEM trim paint.. Dont sand it.. Use their adhesion promoter/primer also.. You should be able to get it to match like factory.

SEM by far. They are a bit expensive, but the best you're going to get in trim paint.

I did most of the panels in my 2000 Mustang with SEM interior paint, turned out nice, perfect match. So far it's held up pretty well too. I have a ton of it left, but I'm not 100% sure if it's a match for the 98 or not, as I know Ford monkeyed with the paint codes in the Mustang line between 98-99, so not sure if they did the same in the F150 line. It'd be close though I'm sure..

Clean it will with a degreaser and a brush, especially if it is used, to get all the old armor-all off. Then clean it again, let it dry and wipe it down with acetone. Use SEM Colorcoat paint-you can find it at a auto paint supply store, or just ask a couple used car dealers where they get theirs. 5-6 light coats of paint and no one will be able to tell it's not the oem finish. See my thread -Page 8 for pics of my truck. https://www.f150forum.com/f6/98-4wd-...oblems-230285/

Just curious, do I have to have the color made at a auto parts store? The color I need is dark graphite, I'm just not finding much on internet . I was hoping to order the part and paint at the same time, its easier for me to order it because of my work hours.

No, its all pre-made. O'Reilys has it on their website.

I have the same interior trim as you, so I may pick up a can myself. Need to do a little touchup.
