Default Intake Runner Stuck Closed

Hey all,

Hoping to find some answers here. My 2002 v6 4.6 F150 is throwing the intake manifold runner stuck closed code. I have replaced the IMRC motor as it was not moving. That didn't do the trick. After digging further I found the wire that is suppose to open the motor was cut in half in the wire harness. Repaired the wire and in the driveway the motor opened and closed fine by revving it.

Driving it a mile will make the motor stop working and through the code. Cutting the open wire and reconnecting will make the motor start working again. It works in the driveway no matter how much you rev the crap out of it but the second you take it on the road it stops working.

Things I have tested:
- Ran a completely new wire from the computer to the imrc motor
- while revving shook the crap out of the harness, the connection to the imrc motor and the wires going into the computer
- from inside the truck shook the crap out of the computer

I am fresh out of ideas here. Thinking the broken wire maybe messed with the computer?

Thoughts? I am about to go insane chasing this one!

lower intake is completely clean.. ran it through a washer, replaced all gaskets and isolator bolts

On the 02 can you just swap a pcm from a junk yard or do you need to flash it?

needs be flashed. Just because the intake is clean doesnt meant the isolator bushings are still in good shape..

they move easily by hand... but why would they open and close with easy when revving in driveway but not driving down the road? Thanks for the replies by the way! My next step will be to pull the pcm and inspect it.. hoping to find rust or a bad solder.. otherwise this is gonna get expensive quickly

Maybe an imrc bushing is busted or missing. Mine were. But still ran fine. Just a guess though.

When I took the Lower Intake Manifold Off, I notice the other side was sticking and it take more force to move compared to the other. After Cleaning the EGR ports, the lever connected to the IMRC can be move easily.
