Default I'm in lug nut H*LL! UPDATED ****HELP PLEASE!*****

Okay, so I picked up my brand new rims yesterday, drop them off with the spline drive lugs at my tire guy this morning and get a call back saying the lugs are the wrong size.

Frack!

So I get on the horn, call 4 parts providers and my the lug nut size I need is apparently very rare. I'm looking for 12mm x 1.75 acorn style lugs. I guess in the year 2000 Ford changed the nut size even though they kept the same bolt pattern (so the rims do fit, I just need the right nuts), the guy I bought them from (who said they would fit) had a 2001 F150.

As of now, I've only found one parts provider who has them, and he wants $10 each plus the driver, so over $200 total, and it will take 3-4 days to get them.

Anyone else run into this? Suggestions? Obviously, I'm looking for a good price and fast delivery.

:u nsure:

If I read you right, wouldn't it be easier to use stock lugs and put lug covers on them?

5.4 equipt trucks have the m14x2.0 and the 4.6 trucks have the m12x1.75
I have ran into the same thing before...I bought mine from eBay for under $50 for the 20 lugs. Untill they came in I used my stock lug nuts(I know they are 2 different styles) and the worked just fine till they came in.

Hey guys the problem is the stock nuts are the washer style, my tire guy said they won't fit the after market (Ion) rims I have. The rims take the more common conical (acorn?) style, they are just a pain to find in a 12mmx1.75, I'll go check out the 'Bay right now... thought I would be cruising today, this sucks...

Have you checked at autozone? Or napa? They have sets for about $50 as well....

Do you mean 60 degree tapered cone seat lug nuts? Some people call them acorns and bulge too.
Westtn is right, those can probably be found in sets at Advance, Pep Boys, or AutoZone or a local Mag wheel shop.
That's a pretty common size as well as I remember.
Good luck.

napa couldn't get anything but bulk rate (non locking) and a box of 100 (which he didn't want to order),

I should have been clear I want the spline drive (or equivalent) locking nuts

After talking with 5 local parts places, I did find a wheels place that can bring them in for Friday $3.90 a piece plus $8.50 for the tuner, not cheap but half the price of another quote. Even if I can get one off eBay for $50 the taxes and shipping (let alone potential duty and handling charges to Canada) makes them the same price and this way I'll get them by Friday AM.

12mm acorns are super common, just in a 1.5 though, 1.75 has been the pain.

I didn't specify 19mm lugs, crap, should I have specified that?

Ok, I understand now. I know what you are talking about.
You need the McGard without a doubt.
They are the best.
The price you quoted sounds right on if they are McGard since prices on the web are 70.00 to 100.00 plus shipping and that does not include the tuner.
Stop worrying and get the shop to order them for you and get on the road Friday.
It's not worth the few dollars you MIGHT save odering on line.
Forget to mention those things look GREAT.

Exactly, I'm assuming they are McGard or maybe Gorilla, really I don't care at this point lol. When I ordered them I requested Splinedrive (McGard), so we'll see....

The top product is McGard, the bottom Gorilla.

Do you guys get a wheel lock for every rim as well?
