I am new here and just purchased a 99 4x4 F 150 XLT. 173k miles and it runs good, shifts good and drives fair. Needs a little front end TLC, but from what I read here, it has a lot of miles left in it. 4.6 Auto.

99 F-150 4.2 V6 201,000 and still going. It has a slight miss code read at a local shop said its running lean any suggestions? I some time lug around a 800 pound pop up camper.

Repairs: New radiator, new tires in 08, rear end rebuilt, some body work left rear (a drunk idiot ran into it parked in front of my house) new battery, alternator, sending unit, replaced the rear window seal they tend to leak. New front disks and brakes, new plugs, wires, and a coil. Regular oil changes. Anyone have a good idea why it could be running lean?

I had that same problem on my 02 4.2. Turns out it was the seals on the bolts holding the intake manifold onto the block. There was a TSB out saying those o-rings deteriorate over time. Something to look into.

03 5.4, coming up on 75k
I really love this truck, I hate the 60/40 split bench though, wish it had power buckets, that's really the only complaint I could possibly come up with.
You don't realize how nice power seats are until you don't have the. It's hard to find that 'sweet spot' without the power adjust, the increments on the manual adjust are just so far apart, too close to the wheel, click back a notch, too far back. Oh well, first world problems.

Could also be short person problems. I am 6'7 and know when I get in anything the seat is going all the way back ha ha. I really hate how the ceter console moves forward when you pull the passenger seat up tho!!!

I'm 6', I guess that's short to you though

I've noticed that there are a few different types of seats, even within the 60/40 benches, I have the stx ones and they are just plain hard.
Others have commented on it as well, they just aren't very nice.

I've seen some guys on here have done the swap to power buckets, I'd love to do that, but admittedly I'm not the most handy and I don't have much patience for that kind of stuff.
I'd probably end up with stripped holes, a hacked up wiring harness and pissed off. I'd really like to keep the truck a while though, as it's only got 75k on it, so maybe that's something I'll look into finding a nice set and getting done somewhere.
I'd choke a bitch for a set of king ranch buckets with the center console

Intake manifold sits on the heads, not block.

I have 198761on my 1997 4x4. The 5.4 doesn't use any oil runs great. Overall the truck is very solid other than the typical Ford rust.
