Question Cold Air Intake = Check engine light??

Has anyone put a cold air intake on a 2003 f-150 (5.4V8) and then after about a day or two the check engine light comes on, cause this is what happened to me on my 2003 F-150 Super Crew 4X4. So i removed it and never had a problem since.
Any suggestions??
Let me know. I would really like to put another cold air intake back on.

Thanks, Kurt

I didn't think they caused problems with the 03's. What code came up?

Have to test it and see. Just because its running rich dosent mean the o2 is bad. The maf could be bad, there could be a small vaccum leak not allowing the fuel pressure regulator to do what its supposed to do.. Too many ppl immedietly assume oxygen sensor.

If anything, I would have thought it would cause it to run "lean" with the increased air intake.

If you purhased one of the cold air intakes that uses an oil impregnated filter such as a K&N if there is to much oil on the filter it will be sucked into to the intake and coat your MAS heated sensor element causing the rich mixer error. The fix is to hose down the MAS to clean to oil off of it, then clean and oil the filter being very careful you put exactly the right amount of oil on the filter.
