Seafoam is a fuel additive. What you do is take the vaccumm line from the brake booster with the engine off. Start the truck and slowly sucks about half the can into the intake of the truck. Pour the rest in your tank. It just helps break up any build up in your intake, allowing more air to get in. I perfer B-12 Chemtool for this. Also you can change out your PCV valve with a new motorcraft one. Dont use the cheap aftermarket ones. I think one from ford is like 12 bucks. Also if you pcv line is rotted I would replace it. A new one is like 12 bucks as well. I think. If you really want to improve your mileage look at your rolling resistance. A/T tires are not good for mileage. You would want more like a street tread. Also cleaning your MAF sensor would help. Overtime it can get build up that you cant see with your eyes.

I got my Flow Master 40S si/so installed today. I will 2nd what others have said about this being your first mod. It makes a huge differences and I plan on ordering my K&N CAI tomorrow. I'm going to track my mileage next week and report any gains.

BTW - I paid $167 total (muffler, installation and tax)

Subscribing for long maps results. I was thinking of adding a flow 50s suv muffler to the gator after reading of mpg gains.

Default Details! Details!

I am interested in finding out more info on the home-grown intake mods that would let me replace the stock filter with a performance replacement that fits the stock cowl and also ways to get more air into the huge cowl (cutting)?

Get a scanguage II. You can watch how you're doing as a driver. This alone netted me a couple miles per gallon.

Well I just bought one! I paid 147.73 on Amazon shipped 3-5 days. So I should get it on 10th.

I'm going to fill back up in the morning and report my mpg from the muffler mod. My K&N will be in Friday so I should be able to get another mpg report before I put the SG2 on.

I wish I had got the SG2 before I did anything... it would had been cool to see the mpg before hand and have some history.

Thanks for the info on the SG2,
David.

Here's what I had this morning. Showing my math: 192.3 miles topping back off at 11.51 gals = 16.70 mpg

Before mufflers: 15 to 15.5 mpg - so that's about 1 mpg more!

Now I have to say that since I installed the mufflers I have changed my drive habits and now I take it easy. Given only enough gas to get to posted speeds and trying not to pass unless I really need to. I also drive no faster then 65 mph and using my cruise when ever possible.

So is the improved MPG from that or the muffler?

I will install my K&N CAI and replace some bad COPS and the rest of the plugs this weekend and do another top off/reset.

More to come...
David.

Try driving at 60 or even 55. I noticed quite a difference in economy dropping from 70.
