Default Horrible shaking in front end and getting worse

I have a 2003 f150 4x4 and 2 weeks ago a vibration in the front end started when going between 45-55 mph. Now it starts even if im going 20 mph and is sever enough to make it hard to control. doesn't matter if im breaking or accelerating still shakes. Any advice on what it could be?

I would start by making sure your tires are balanced properly.

If it wasn't a small shake that has gotten worse with time, and sort of came out of nowhere, I agree with Drillrig.

I would start with checking your tires for bulges, bumps, missing tread, etc., then look at your rims, then check and make sure all of your balancing weights are still connected.

If all that's fin, I'd look at your ball joints (jack it up and see if there's play), and tie rod ends next. If you tear apart the front end, I'd consider doing wheel bearings at the same time, if you have a lot of miles on your rig.

There is not a drum brake on that truck.

Tires, then check the ball joints.

Have you recently have a loud squeak when you make a turn even sitting still and just turning the wheel? Is the vibration worse in a slight turn to the right or left?

Ball Joints would be my guess. This model pickup is famous from those going out.

Regards,

PT

Right! Thanks.. I meant rotors.. I had that problem at 50k miles, and had the front two replaced and the rear ones resurfaced.
