Default Hood paint peeling back?

Anyone else have the paint on the there hood bubbling up? I have a 2003 f150 and the lower part of the hood near the top of the grille is bubbling up. My warrenty is up for the corrosion, which is 5year, 100000 miles. I was told that this was common problem because the hoods are aluminum and were not prep right at factory. Just wondering if everyone else is having same problem and what they did to fix it. Thanks again.

You should be able to push it at the dealership or through Ford itself...

Default Clear coat

I own a 1997 F150 and during the past year the clear coat on the hood has started to peel away in various places on the hood only. The rest of the truck looks great, but the appearance of the hood takes away from its looks. I think I am going to live with it...

Great news, Took the truck to the ford dealer today and there is a TSB on the paint peeling back. There is also a 5 year 100,000 mile warrenty for corrosion but that is only for rust that breaks through the metal. He told me that iron dust got on the aluminum hoods during prep and paint which causes this bubbling to happen. Ford knows they screwed up but the TSB said it will only cover the 3year/ 36000 miles warrnety. Oh wait thats not great news guess I have to live with it of pay 400 bucks to have it redone.

my 2000 has a nasty spot right at the front of the hood where it's bubbling up. I'm going to get a bug visor and install it to cover it up - it's a shame because the rest of the truck is flawless except for the roof and nobody can see that anyways

My hood is peeling also, but just started in the last year or less. Are you guys seeing the primer lifting also? Mine is just the paint lifting off the primer. '01 F150 SuperCrew, btw. The roof is the bad part- peeling like the shell of a hard-boiled egg in the strengthening ribs. It will probably never rust through but it looks like hell and shouldn't have happened.

My 2001 supercrew has paint peeling on the roof, bed, and inside of the fenders along with the dash. The paint on the roof started peeling just out of warranty. Water sets in the channels and gets under the paint. Ford would not cover it and the body shop at the dealership told Ford that something scraped the paint off. This was one big fat lie and not the only lie that I caught them in. The body shop that re-painted the roof said they see the same problem on Ford SCs all the time. I also have a spot on the roof of my Sporttrac. The channels on these roofs are just bad designs unless you live in the desert. The myriad of problems with my 2001 has led me to defect to Toyota.

Stumpjumper, I am so glad you went and bought some jap crap. I am sure your one of those guys that say, Well its made in america so it is helping people here. Thats good way to think but most of the profits go back to Japan. Here is a little video on the crap you just bought. Congrats and good luck im sure its a great truck. http://www.fordvehicles.com/2009f150/

bigbluefan, you know the best thing about this country is we have the freedom to choose. I have owned Fords for over 30 years and Ford has always taken car of me. Here is what I have done on my 2001 SC prior to 100k miles:
42k - spark plugs, cop, & de-carbon - check engine light on
42k - front brakes
40-45k - major paint peeling roof & dash - repainted roof
70k - front lower ball joints - Ford dealer said I was lucky to make it to 70k
85k - spark plugs (again 100k plugs my #%^), fuel pump, intake gaskets, cop - bill was not pretty
85k - rear brakes
87k - repainted roof again, more paint peeling off dash

Also, this truck has used a qt of oil every 1500-2000 miles. Ford says that unless it is less than 1000 it is acceptable. Ford should have taken care of the paint problems but chose to tell me to go fly a kite. American car companies are in trouble because of crap they are making. I also have a 2004 Sportrac with the same paint issues on the roof. I am deligent about maint. and am fortunate to have been able to do some of the work myself. Ford lost a lifetime customer and did not give a rat's behind.
