ive got a 4.6 97, i really like the way the exhuast sounds now but ive got some spending money from christmas and was wandering if headers would make it sound "meaner?" ive got a y pipe with no mufflers now. anyone know of the best one for this truck? and ive read about "hi flow cats" do they make those for this truck? any helps appreciated.

Do you see any advantages from your headers?

Switching to hi flows alone will make a different sound. Meaner, probably not, just louder. Meaner comes with the choice of muffler because without one and long tubes will be stupid loud. Best headers are probably Pacesetter's 72C2225 and fab up universal cats to it. For the cats use magnaflow 94106's. Be sure to get a tuner and custom tunes to compensate for the changes.

Long tubes or nothing. A full exhaust system headers, high flows, and mufflers will make a huge difference in sound and performance. That's always where I start with any vehicle I mod,

@otto457
yea so far i think that im gonna delete both cats on each side and run one magnaflow high flow on each side. but is the 94106 the one that will fit if i do this? and are the headers that your talking about long tube?

Yes those headers I suggested are long tubes. The 91406 is a universal cat that can be welded into place after the headers. Those are the ones you want because no cats are going to bolt directly up to the headers and they are large enough capacity to handle a truck motor.
