Help
Has the gauge ever worked right? No way to tell if it's the gauge or the sender.
You can test the sender when the tank is out. The float changes the resistance as it moves.

Could just be a bad gauge. I had a ‘94 Ranger I swapped an Exploder tach cluster into. The voltmeter gauge occasionally would turn all the way up and left passed the low mark. Flick the panel with a finger and it got unhung back towards the middle. Those sections swap out, so if you find a loose section for grabs…I’d try that first.
I'm not sure if it ever worked I haven't had it long didn't work when I got it I unhooked the cluster to the gauge and everything looks good and snaps in good so I'll check the other stuff when it ever stops raining around here......thanks
Actually, if the needle doesn't drop to below E when the key is off then there's a problem with the gauge. If it always shows full, key off or on.
If it goes directly to full when the key is turned on there could be several causes.
Just occurred to me.
