Default 97/98 f150 heater core flush

I have a early 98 ford f150 with a 4.6l. does the same rules go for flushing the newer heater core "just do both sides" or do I have to go in the outlet and out from the inlet? if so witch one is the inlet?pictures would be best. just wanting to know so I don't mess up nothing.

You can do both ways... in and out...out and in

I wouldn't recommend a reverse flush in the opposite direction, could break apart sediments large enough to actually clog the core? Then your ripping the dash apart to replace it, better off just going with the flow. Literally.

I always flush in both directions. Never a problem.

The quick disconnect has a plastic ring that is attached to the heater hose and a plastic insert with clips on it that go inside the ring and fit over the heater core inlet and outlet ports. You have to squeze the ring to release the clips from the ring that is attached to the heater hose. Then pull the hose off. The plastic insert will stay on and after the hose of off, you pull this off. To put back on, assembly all pieces to the heater hose, put a little grease on the heater core inlet, and push on the heater hose. Before you do, inspect to make sure the plastic parts are not broken (a common problem with they get old). If they are, replace the heater hoses because cracked or broken plastic parts will result in leaks at your heater core. somewhere on this blog there is a picture of the quick disconnect fittings that will help you figure this out.

you can flush both ways, but it's best to flush the opposite direction of the coolant flow. It will help loosen up crud because youre going "against the grain"

Flush opposite direction...the crap didn't make it thru, make it go from whence it came!
