Well I'm Back with an 01 XLT Screw
I sold my 05 Lariat Screw in the spring and bought a suv for our running around. Being retired I don't need much. I started looking 3 months ago for a first generation F150 SuperCrew that wasn't rusted out, etc. Finally made a deal today on a 01 XLT screw, mechanic owned and has no rust. It's a 4.6, 4x4 that's had the spark plugs changed and had a new intake installed several months ago. No clear coat fade, will need the drivers seat fabric and foam replaced but other than that a nice truck. Paid less than $2k and will pick it up next Saturday. This will make me having had an 01, 02, and 05 Supercrew the last 10 years. They are hard to beat if properly taken care of. I look forward to being active here again. Between Expeditions and F150's I've owned 7 over the years and they all had the 5.4. Have a lot to learn regarding the 4.6. Nice to be back! Will post a couple photos after we get it home. (8hours one way to get it)

Well, it wont be as much as you think. 5.4 is a stroked 4.6. pretty similar motor.

Well after talking with the seller I was wrong. It's a 5.4. I've had 7 ford vehicles the last 17 years and know them pretty well, which I like. Also after checking VIN info on the net I determined it has the FX4 package. Should make a nice truck for our use. Will probably only see maybe 4,000 miles a year if that. After we get it home and cleaned up I'll post a few photos.

My bad I wasn't as clear as I should have been. We came to terms on a price subject to inspecting and driving the truck. Since then I've backed off on the truck simply because it's an 8 hour trip from where we live and the weather isn't cooperating. We live in the mountains of northern New Mexico and at 71 I don't want to fight possible bad weather for 3 days of driving. And at our age I don't want my wife to spend 2 days driving thru the mountains under these conditions. I don't have to have the truck now so I will continue to look for something much closer. If it were spring or summer it would be a different story but it isn't.

No I did not. My wife has some health issues and the problem flared up Friday and we determined that she wasn't able to spend 2 days driving in the mountains to get home. The weather was the other factor. I'll continue to look for a truck but something within 3-4 hours of home rather than 8 hours from home.
