Default Headache Rack Build

Well I decided a few months ago that I wanted to build a new, lower profile headache rack to replace the old one. So should have it done in about two weeks or so depending on the time a day I put into it. So far it will have LED's, an antenna mount, and will be sprayed in bedliner (friend of mine has a gun that will spray the stuff). Haven't figured out what I want to do for louvers (not doing expanded like I did on the last one) and am open to suggestions. This one also uses much heavier materials. I'll keep y'all posted.

As far as I am. My chop saw is fried so I have to borrow one but that requires another day.

I'm not sending this from my iPhone while driving.

Here is the current plan/design for the new one. Fixing some of the issues I had with the previous one like using angle instead of strap on the runners to stiffen the rack up and keep it from shaking from wind resistance. Also dropping the top to fit the truck a little better. This one is using 2" tubing instead of 1.5" tubing but overall uses less materials.

I'd like to make a headache rack that extends onto the roof with a light rack someday.... Making it sturdy enough that it doesn't bounce up and down damanging the roof would be my biggest concern.

Thats a really good idea actually. Make it stick forward about a foot. Put a hi lift jack, and a few lights and presto, badass headache rack. It would have to sit about 4" higher than the cab because of the flex between the bed and the cab though.
