Default Has anyone installed one of these?

I finally found out that my truck does not come with a factory keyless entry option and ford wants $169.99 plus labor to put one in. I found this
Amazon Amazon
and wanted to know if anyone has installed an aftermarket one. How difficult are they? Let me know, thanks.

I put a viper remote start and keyless entry in my truck. It takes some time. But if your patient, do your reading, and don't rush it. You should be fine. Oh and make sure you put your antenna in a good place so you can get the most range out of your remote.

Did your come with a bypass? When I added that entry to my cart it recommended a bypass module. I have no idea what it is for.

You definately need the bypass. Its to bypass factory theft system (pats), its makes the vehicle think theres a key in the ignition. Without it, the remote start will not start the vehicle

Ya you have to have the bypass. What its for is your key has a chip in it that allows your truck to start. Without it your truck will just turn over. What the bypass does is act like the chip when remote starting the car.

My truck doesn't have a chip key though??? I just went and got a copy made and it was like $2.50, I had a chip key for my ranger and they wanted something like $40. So I don't think I have one. In that case would I still need the bypass?

if your key doesn't have the chip you do not need the bypass. I just looked at your profile, your truck is a 1998 so you should be fine without the bypass. I thinks Pats started in 1999. Sorry I should have asked model year before I asnwered initially

X2 No need for the bypass then.
