Guys i need your help.
 

Okay so my Sylvania SilverStar Ultra headlights went out so i threw in the factory ones which were still working and laying in my glovebox for temporary use (since they are extremely dim and unsafe). but i wasnt happy that my silvetstars only lasted 4 months. so can yall tell me what 9007 headlight bulb has been the brightest, has had the best road illumination, and whiter light, and long life span for you? so basically overall performance? thanks!

The Ultra's are the brightest of the regular bulbs I've seen used. I have them and have for the past 4 years in my blue truck. My red one just got them last year but hasn't been driven enough with the lights on to have any problems as of yet.

Did they explode or just die?

You did use nitrile gloves to prevent oil from your fingers from getting on the glass during install right? I've had mine for five years and they are still going strong.

They just died, no explosions, and yes, i used gloves to protect the bulbs.

Light bulbs , ie 9007 etc, have DOT ratings which limit lumens.
you really do not get more light from a more expensive bulb

You may get whiter light, which give you that illusion
At expense of bulb life
you dont get more projection either, the reflector determines that.
In a nutshell.....waste of money

MBB, I usually agree with you, but I can see it with my own eyes. They are indeed rated at higher LUX than OEM. You can see it. Not a waste of money, at all. I would rather see better and replace them more often. Although 4 months is a bit premature. I usually get 2 years out of them.

I would first have the alternator checked out. and monitor the voltage Email Sylvania about the short life. And get the clear lighting head lights they put out a lot more light with standard than the stock ones with standard bulbs.

I had an Altima one time that would eat silverstars. About every three or 4 months. Best I could figure was it had a short in harness somewhere. We have had silverstars zxe in our edge for several years now.

It looks to me like they have a one year warranty. In reading the "fine print', hopefully you have a receipt and didn't buy them on Ebay.....
