Default Got a chance to get a 2006 f150??

Hey guys I have a chance to get a 2006 f150 supercrew 4x4 with 5.4 with 101,000 miles on it they are asking 13,500 for it a guy I work with has it he has never had any trouble with it and scheduled routine Maintenance every 3,000 miles but is it worth the 13,500 being I already have a 2001 supercrew ? My 2001 supercrew runs like a dream even with 203,500 miles on it? What to do? I don't have the 13,500 so I would have to get bank loan. My 2001 supercrew is paid for in excellent condition even after a hurricane dropped a tree on the roof few years back but body shop made short work of it with bondo and a new paint job lol!

Will you be keeping your current f150 or selling if you got the newer one? It's honestly up to you, I want to get a new truck just cause I want a newer model, but mine is already paid off and I don't want to have to start payments again. Thats the only thing stopping me. If you don't mind the payments, go for it.

Yea I say if you don't mind the payments do it!

But I personally wouldn't cause I hate car payments..
I had a motorcycle with a payment and it sucked. It's like you just go to work to pay for something. I would rather have something I enjoy and not have to work all the time. But if you are happy with where you work and are trying to make it a career you might want to.. cause it does have 1/2 the miles. I have 207k on mine and it's fine, I actually plan on doing a lot to it... up to you.

run fast, run far. that 01 will keep purring a long time if you keep looking after her, and I've seen her, she's in great shape.

don't put yourself over 13K in debt for a joke of a truck that'll likely end up with several issues long before it matches that 01's mileage. it's no fun hearing nothing but tickticktickticktickticktickticktick everywhere you drive either.

You know the cam phasers can be fixed, right?
Every vehicle has it's faults.

I bet if someone was asking about a vehicle that had a timing belt that needed to be changed every 60k you'd say "OH NO, DON't GET THAT POS IT NEEDS THE DANG TIMING BELT CHANGED EVERY 60k, my truck has 300k miles and never needed it changed!".

yes, I'm aware they can be fixed. yes, every vehicle has it's faults. I merely mentioned they are an annoying common problem 10th gens don't have. my other equally expressed points were that, in my opinon and experience, 10th gens are a far better/reliable truck in general, and that I see no point in going into debt for a truck when you already have a great truck. obviously some disagree, and they're welcome to, it's called an opinion. you said yourself we can't make the decision for the OP, I gave my opinion and experience since he did ask.

as well most on here with enough knowledge to weigh in will agree the 5.4 2v is a far more solid and reliable engine than the 5.4 3v.

Id much rather have no payment and fix a blown out spark plug down the road. Payments on a vehicle which at some point may require removal off the timing cover and messing with chain tensioners, cam phasers is not my idea of fun.

My thoughts are if you spend more money on a vehicle - It is so that you don't have to fiddle around with it. If your current truck works well id just drive it till it dies.

I'd keep my truck.

$13k+ for a 9 y/o 100k mi+ truck? What are you really gaining? Your current truck looks to be in good shape and if its mechanically ok, then I would say Keep it, and pocket the cash.
