Hmmm still on the fence a little bit. Is there any chance I drive this engine for a while and then swap another 5.4 into it?
The thing drove real nice and I liked the leather interior and bedliner aspects. I'm basically lookin' to get a good deal out of the truck because the lady selling it just seems to want it gone. Seems like any nice 01-03 Screw I find in my area has high miles or is way over priced

thanks again for the input guys!

My rockers looked like surface, but a good poke with my finger, and it went straight through. It didn't stop me from buying it,but I adjusted my offer accordingly.
Did the rockers myself, over the course of two days, with no knowledge of what I was doing.

My 2001 with 96,000 miles listed for $10,900 I got it for $9,000. Other than the rockers being rusted out, it's in beautiful shape.

The mileage in itself is a $1300. deduct from the price. Rust is another big deduct. 60% tires is about a $200 deduct additional. How about the Windshield? Cracked? $400 more off. Every little dent is more. It adds up so quickly, and the 5.4 with 195,000, how are the plugs? Ready to blow out? Has it ever had a tune up? Very expensive if you break a plug.

I hope you see where I was going with this. Even here in Anchorage, there are 2001-03's for anywhere from 5000 to 11,000. I bought an 03 Screw last week, Kings Ranch for $5700 with 107k on the speedo. I'll put up pics next week when I clean it up. Other than a cracked w/s, it's beautiful but dirty. The buys are out there. You just have to look and be patient. For every 2 pieces of junk, there is a good vehicle to take their place. Don't give away the fact you want to buy something. Time is on your side, so use it to your advantage.

Thanks. It may be a good buy, but the detailer I talked to today quoted me 800 to do the job. I about died. I started on it today, but by 2:45, I called him and told him he had a job. I've NEVER seen a vehicle so damn dirty. The seats, leather of course, look like black pitch tar is all over them. I had to give up and let the pros do their job. Wow!

It needs tires also, after doing some more looking closer. They are the originals or damn close. The pro date on the back is 1404, meaning built in 04. Not exactly an item I'll overlook. Only time will tell once I get it home and clean. I'll post pics of before and afters. You won't believe how freakin' dirty this pig was or is. How anyone could ruin a truck that nice, is unbelievable.

Once done, I should have just short of $9k in it. That's cleaned, new tires, windshield replacement, new brake pads (f & r), shocks (shot), left rear door panel (125 wrecking yard), and left and rt upper control arms. Not exactly a super deal, but not bad and in the long run may work out okay. I can always turn it if I don't like it. I don't think I'd loose money.

That is alot of miles for the price, you can find something way better than that for the money.
