Gears- normal wear pattern?

I'm not very good with gears but I'm getting a hell of a jolt when I take off and then again after stopping like something is settling? It's hard to explain smooth as glass when I drive. Also when I pull a load, it doesn't do it as bad. I took the cover off hoping the mains were backing away but no such luck. The clunk feels like a bad u-joint would feel but without the sound...? Lost

It is in all likelihood the slip yoke. the slip yoke splines on the 2 pc shaft's are prone to need grease and will cause a thunk clunk when you first start out from a stop and some time's when you stop. my solution install a grease Zerk in the slip spline problem solved
