I'd still get a hold of that Ron's place because they have all sorts of different ratios and He can hook you up...

Look at Yukon. A set of 4.56 is like 210 shipped!

4.10 would get you back close to a stock gear ratio.

It will actually put your around the same gear ratio as if you had 3.73 with stock tires so no noticeable difference on mpg or significant rpm change and better for your trans.

If you have the 4.6 with the 2.3 ratio torq converter, you will see a HUGE drop in power. Not to mention the stress on all mechanical parts related to transferring power from the tranny to the tires.

All 97-03 automatic's (besides the 7700) have the 4R70W tranny with the same 4 gear ratios;(regardless of engine) The only difference is the 5.4 with a 1.9 torque conv. and the 4.6 with the 2.3!

1-2.84
2-1.55
3-1.00
4-.7

I could run some numbers comparing the two (using a math program called mat-lab), but I can already tell you its going to be *TERRIBLE* at pulling, acceleration, fuel efficiency, and reliability(parts wearing out).

I had a 98 f150 with 3.55LSD, with 35 BFG MT's and I didn't notice the huge drop in power till I regeared it to 4.56 with an Auburn LSD. Theres an equation that tells you what ratio would bring it back to the stock get-up and if going from a 31' stock tire to a 35', the closest ratio would be 4.56. I could eat most trucks and cars up off of the line. The difference was night and day and would run 70mph on the freeway all day at around 2000rpm. I still have the full rear end and am selling it for cheap. PM me if interested. I'm in SoCal.

I have the 4.6 with 8.8, running 35s now, next will be 37s. I love my 4.56s, I get 14.5 as a average.

BTW: I did run the stock rear set-up for 8 years and never had a problem. However, after 5 years a tranny spring went bad and I replaced the whole transmission for peace of mind and never had any issues after that. When they did the re-gear, they did however find one of the teeth from the stock LS stuck to the magnet at the bottom of the pumpkin. I was lucky it never got picked back up and spit through the diff. cover. I have seen that happen twice!
