Default gauges

I have a 99 4.6 without tach.. I want tach so I got the cluster out of a 01 5.4.. I swapped them and theft like comes on and will not start.. what's the problem

Maybe has something to do with the memory chip in the cluster. Or maybe ya need to take it to ford an have it flashed. These are just guesses. I wonder if I will have this prob I am goin do same thing but gotta find a cluster first.

Or maybe something to do with the year difference? Since the cluster is out of an '01 and your pickup is a 99?

The cluster, or hybrid electronic cluster, controls the theft system for the vehicle. Would need to put the old cluster back in to get it somewhere for programming. Either the data needs to be transfered or your keys need to be programmed with the new cluster. Need at least two keys , if you have more than two bring them with to also get programmed.

Can I take the lock cylinder and keys out of the 01 5.4 and swap

No, The PATS system needs to be verified in all scans. It will need to be programmed from ford.
