fuel pump replacement, what all do i need?
#11
I replaced my pump a few weeks ago. I wanted to go the route of taking off the bed, but could only get 3 of 6 Torx bolts loose. I probably had a cheap Torx socket, but the tips were stripping. And yes, I soaked the bolts with PB Blaster about 15 minutes before trying. I had to drop the tank. It was fairly difficult to detach and reattach the hoses on top of the tank, but getting the hangers loose are no problem. Total job took me about 5 hours. I could do it faster the next time, but probably would still take me 3 or 4 hours. If you can get the bed up, that is definitely the easiest. It looks to me that one person could tilt it up and put jack stands between the frame and bed on the driver side. You don't need much room to get the pump loose and out.
Good luck!

Just thought i would give an update
Took the bed off friday night after work, got off work today at 11, started changing it around 12, and had the truck running again by 2
Required a t40 torx tip, 5/16 nut driver, 7mm nut driver, a flat head screwdriver, and a quick disconnect took for the fuel lines. I was able to get the bed off with just my brother-in-law's help but we had 2 others helping us put it back on and line it back up.
