Fuel Milage
Okay, question i have a 99 f150 Lariat and but a reman engine in it with no miles. it now has 12,000 miles and runs great. my question is what should i be getting for gas mileage right now i filled up on 03/26/17 and after 120 miles im at 1/2 tank if not slightly lower than 1/2. just wondering if thats right or if i just getting that crappy mileage. if i could please have some input. Also truck has P1451 which is EVAP control system canister vent solenoid circut malfunction. would this give me a decrease in gas mileage or no. thoughts please and thanks. i drive a lot for work and this thing is starting to hit my pocket for gas and don't want to sell it cause i like my truck. Also muffler is old and rusted out but getting that fixed in the morning 03/27/17 would that make a difference also.

Well, since you have given us nothing to figure out fuel mileage with, no way to give an answer.
You need to know exactly how many miles you have driven and divide it by exactly how many gallons of gas it took to fill it full (so long as the last time the tank was filled full). Multiple fuel-up are needed to be accurate.
120 miles and 1/2 a tank mean nothing.
Regardless, you are going to get crappy fuel mileage. These are big, heavy trucks designed when gas was $1/gallon and people that drove them did not really care about gas mileage.
With no info on what truck you have, no way to really give you any more advice. Engine size, cab type, 2wd or 4x4, tire size, lift, driving condition etc all make a difference.
Regardless, 11-15 mpg will be what you can expect (unless all highway @ 55 mph)

My supercrew 4x4 with 3.73 gears, and LT 285 tires only gets about 14.5 on interstate at 75 mph. Drove a few hundred on 55 mph two lane rds last week and got 15.6mg. about 16.2 was my best ever I recall...with very worn tires overinflated.

Well, seems I told you the exact same thing in a post you made in July of last year. In the past 9 months have you actually calculated your MPG as described?
If you are not going to listen, people will not help you.

Your best bet is to use the calculator on your phone when you fill the tank.
Fill the tank, drive normally, and fill the tank again. Divide the miles you drove by the number of gallons you put in. Do this for a month or two. That will give you a pretty good idea of what kind of gas mileage you are getting.
There are a lot of factors that go into MPG. Do you start slowly from a stop light/sign or floor it and squeal the tires? Do you drive as fast as possible all the time? Do you go off road daily or yearly? Do you ever pull a trailer? Do you haul a bunch of stuff in the bed?
It's hard for us to tell you what is normal without you doing the math. If the math is too hard use the fuelly app and it will tell you your mileage.
As for experience my halfway fixed up 03 f150 gets about 10mpg in 4 wheel drive and 13-16 depending on whether I'm driving in the city or on the interstate at 65.
As for the evap canister get that fixed as it can slightly impact your mileage. Keep in mind you are driving a very heavy and fuel inefficient vehicle. You aren't going to get awesome gas mileage from it as stated above. If you need a fuel efficient vehicle you need to look for something like a honda accord or toyota camry. Not a truck. It's the price you pay for a vehicle that can tow or pull most other stuff out of the lake.

Actually #s i spewed are prob 1/2 mpg low. Based in odo, which is 3% low due to tires...based on gps.
Based on tire size in pcm I would be 7+%. It says p255 diameter 30.5 inch basically, and 3.73 gears.
it came with p265 from factory.31.5 in, And i have lt285 32.8".
I just calc relative to what I expect and dont think about that gps is right, im not 7% off at 70mph, im about 2mph low.
But if odo and speedo arent same...maybe my odo miles could be lower than i think. Thats all electronic.
