Question Fresh 4:10's, slight diff noise?

I just picked my truck up from the shop and on the way home, while turning in the driveway I noticed a slight squeal noise coming from the rearend. I had them put 4:10s in and new bearings and seals. Is that normal? I'm thinking it's because of the new bearings and all, but I wasn't sure.

Sounds like you need to take it back to the shop and have them readjust the backlash.

Sounds like it wasn't shimmed in exact. If you hear gear whine now, it will always be there. I had some 4:10 gears done on another vehicle and had a little bit of whine, took it back, they adjusted it and was whisper quiet ever since.

It only does it when I'm just before stopping. There is no vibration or anything, just the little squeek that's just loud enough to bother me. The guy who did it has done several of my chevy's and I know he is the best around... I'm confident in him but this does bother me a little lol

That I dunno then. Usually gear whine from when I've seen it, is constant when under accleration.

Its an odd sound too. Its not a grinding sound and doesn't sound metallic, it has a plastic type sound is the best way I can describe it lol. If that makes since

I'm not sure? After driving a bit more, I only hear it after the diff warms up. I'm calling him back Monday and we gonna go for a test drive so he can hear it, I've only put about 60 miles on the gears (driving about 15-20 miles at a time then letting it cool). Noise is from ~10mph to a stop. And also, while at a constant speed I "think" I hear the slightest roar. But between my mud grapplers and exhaust I could just be imagining it. I've heard some say aftermarket gears will have some noise when going to a lower ratio.

Ok, I got around to taking my truck back and he said the new ring and pinion set are bad. I asked "how did they go bad" and he explained that every now and then he gets a set that are just bad... So he has a new set coming. Considering I may have drove it harder than I was supposed to, I feel like I should pay for at least parts or labor. But all he said was drive it a hundred or so miles, no real hard accelerations, and keep the speed down. I took this as drive 150 miles, no WOT, and stay under 65.

Side note: These 4:10's are soooo much better than the 3:55's with a 33" tall tire
