Default Ford Antitheft Pata system

Will this work?

Installing an instrument panel with matching key lock cylinder from a donor junkyard vehicle.

This would be for a 1999 F150. It would be taken from the same model years.

The instrument cluster has to be programmed to your trucks pcm.

By a dealer.

Why not start by explaining what you need to do.

Sure you can install it.
No, it wont work until programmed.
The keylock is irrelevant if your current one works
and where will you get key to fit that junkyard cylinder???

Not quite correct. You can program PATS and pair up the modules using an ELM327 ODBII dongle and the free forscan software with the extended license with not dealer visit required. See http://www.forscan.org for the PATS programming process. Use your keys and cylinder.

I have used forscan for diagnosing multiple issues, programming PATS, and pairing new PCMs to the other existing modules. It won't change the milage on the cluster, but it will pair it with the rest of the systems.

I have forscan as well.
but it sounds like op just expected to put a cluster in and have it work.

And..pats programming can be picky about the keys used. Its possible to not get keys programmed with chinese keys.

Still be interested to know why changing cluster.

Default Reason

I'm looking for an instrument cluster with a tachometer.

This junkyard does half off. It would cost me about $30 for the ignition switch and instrument cluster. The key is included.
