Default Fluid change frequency (tranny/transfer case)

What do you all do or follow for the interval of fluid changes? I am not referring to engine oil but the other fluids.

I recently bought a 02 Super Cab which only has on 30k. Since the fluids are all 10 years old I am thinking I should change the tranny and transfer case fluids. I know that they don't have the mileage breakdown but they are old.

Would you all change them? Also do you replace the tranny filter or just flush it? The Ford dealer said they just flush but that seems like a bad idea. I find it hard to believe they can flush out all of the crap that can fill the screen/filter.

i would change all fluids transfer case diffs trans. i would not flush the transmission just drop the pan and change the filter and refill. I would not flush the trans as it will likely dislodge junk and cause issues but thats just my opinion

The debris the flush could mix up is exactly why I hesitate to do it. However if that is what the local Ford Dealership recommends then it must not be an issue. Especially since there is only 30k on it.

If it's only got 30k on it don't be afraid to flush the trans. It won't hurt anything. Everytime I service a 4R70W I drop the pan change the filter,'clean the pan & magnet, then flush. Every 30k miles.

Wow you change as well as flush. In addition to doing both you do it every 30k. That is alot more often that I have ever done.

What do you do for the transfer case? I have never done that, added but never completely changed.

Would you do synthetic or standard fluids?

Transfer case fluid usually upon request. 90k mile otherwise.

I'd stick with Mercon 5 for the tranny and motorcraft transfer case fluid. I'm a believer in motorcraft that's usually all I ever use as far as fluids and filters, etc.
