81 Honda CIVIC 5 speed. Super fun in the mountains of NC. It was old and neglected, a perfect first car. The white paint was so oxidized, whenever I would hand wash it, the rag would pick up so much paint that the water in the bucket looked like milk before I was done!
My first problem with came about 3 months after I got it. I was headed to my first day of a new job. working onThe Great Smokey Mountain Railway(it's a tourist train that takes people on a short scenic stretch of the old railway), and the trans gave out half way there. A police officer soon stopped by, and I made it to work an hour late, in the back of a cop car. New trans and clutch-$950. Ride to work by a civil servant -tax payer money. The looks on some of the passengers faces as I climbed out of the back of the cop car and hopped on the train-priceless!
I drove that car until the gas line rusted out.Actually, I drove for a little while after the gas line rusted out, not knowing where the smell was actually coming from
. (Hey, I wasn't a car guy then). Anyway, we figured it out when my dad and I drove it to a local dealer to try to trade it for something newer. We pulled up and parked in front of the sales office, and immediately a salesman took the keys and went inside to get someone to check the car out. Some other salesmen were hanging out a few feet away, and they started to smell the gas. I happened to look down and under the driver side door, it was actually starting to make a little puddle. They started laughing and making jokes about the car, so my dad goes inside, demands the keys, comes out, says a few grown up words to the other salesmen, and we drive off. The guys were still laughing. 
Something about their unprofessionalism ticked him off enough to want to ride in a potential molitave cocktail one more time. That was a fun car.

My brother had late 69-70(not sure which) Skylark convertible for his first car. Cream yellow body and white top. Don't see many of those today.

96 geo metro. And yah, the one with a 1L inline 3. Learned how to race in that baby. But really, did 0-60 in about a day but realy taught me how to make lines on the roads to keep from having to speed up again.
