Unhappy Fine-Wire Sparkplugs ?

Got a 02 f150 with the 4.6 and it currently has some fine wire motorcraft sparkplugs. Is there a difference between the fine wire plugs and the flat ones ? They both ring up as SP493s
Can the performance of the truck be affected by using the fine wire ones over the flat ones ? Top advance auto parts bottom ebay.

Flat

FineWire

As I recall, the top was the original version of the fine wire. Later on, they refined it even more and the bottom photo is the better design. My last couple sets have been the bottom, and I would bet the ranch that's what you'd receive.

The top plug is made for Motorcraft by Honeywell, and the bottom appears to be NGK to me.

FYI, there is a scam going on as of late which is also affecting Motorcraft plugs. Amazon and Ebay have had issues with fake chinese knock-off plugs being sold. Right now the dealer or Autozone/O'Reilly is the safest bet on buying plugs.

When you install these, do not use anti-seize. They are Nickle coated and do not require it, and it will mess up your torque value when installing them. They should be installed dry to 28 ft pounds, and you're done.

Every auto parts store I've looked at only sells the flat ones for my truck. Only see the fine wire on ebay. Since the truck currently has the pointy ones I wanted to swap them out for the flat ones to see of maybe economy gets better and power.

Those are not flat. Flat would look like the one on the right.

I don't think you'll notice a difference unless your current plugs are worn out. How many miles are on them?

Not even 5k miles lmao. I had ordered them from ebay since they were cheap and when I got them I noticed they had a diff design. I was trying to see of maybe my plugs cause my long crank issue.

There's a chance you got took then. They might be fakes, like I was saying. The NGK, Denso, and Motorcraft plugs are being faked. I was had on some NGK plugs for my Toyota. It seemed to be happy at first, but my mpg's went down to 32-34 mpg's. I put real Denso Iridium's in it, and now she's back at 36-37 mpg.
